Born in 1918 in Saussay-la-Vache in Eure (France) 1941 Marc Boussac is an actor : August 25th - September 7th : Tour of Anjou with Jean Vilar’s company:, 1941 with two shows, one of which is Molière's Georges Dandin. Early 1940s From the early 1940s – his first oil works go back to 1943 Marc Boussac experiments with all sorts of materials, such as oil, sand, paper, plasticized blotting-paper, and plaster, which will always remain his favourite material. 1946 Drawings for a tale by F.Broutet in “Jean Bart”, December 24th, 1946. 1951 Acts in the second part of the trilogy « Parodie Parade » : Chicago Digest (Du sang dans la sciure) December 7th - December 21st : Individual exhibition in Galerie Jacob, 23 rue Bonaparte (Paris) : Marc Boussac’s Latest Works : 36 painting and sculpting works. 1952 Acts in the third part of the « Parodie Parade » trilogy: Torticola contre Frankensberg ( “Torticola against Frankensberg”) by Paul Paviot. Shows in the Tabou cellar club in Paris:« The Strangler » L’étrangleur) - « Listening » ( Aux écoutes), May 23rd 1952 1957 Acts in the film :«The Tales of two Cities» (Sous la terreur), director : Ralph Thomas, Script by T.E.B. Clarke, from the novel by Charles Dickens. The film is released in 1958. 1958 Acts in the theatre play : Juno and the peacock by Sean O’Casey in Théâtre de l’Oeuvre December 6th - 31st : « Petrified instants» (« Les instants pétrifiés ») exhibition of Marc Boussac’s works, in Galerie Iris Clert, 3, rue des Beaux-Arts, Paris 6ème. 1959 June 16th – June 17th 1959: Group exhibition: « Bédart’s Ellipse, Boussac’s Cube and Estienne’s Talk » (« L'Ellipse de Bédart, le Cube de Boussac et le Propos d'Estienne » ) in Galerie « Des 4 saisons », Paris. 1960 September 6th : Marc Boussac is one of the signatories (after the original 121 ) of the « Declaration on the right of insubordination in the Algerian War » ( « La Déclaration sur le droit à l’insoumission dans la guerre d’Algérie » ) Marc Boussac creates the Experimental Room in the art Salon « Comparisons » ( « Comparaisons ». ) 1961 Set Decorator and actor in the theatre play in two acts: « L’hôtel de la nuit qui tombe » (« The hotel of the falling night ») by Nanos Valaoritis. 1962 December 19th, 1961 – January 20th, 1962 : Group exhibition « Nouvelles aventures de l’objet » (« New Adventures of the object » » in Galerie “J” – address : 8 rue de Monfaucon, Paris 6ème Charles Estienne, L’Objet des femmes, illustrations by Marc Boussac, Michel Engel, Paris, Le Soleil Noir. June – September : Group Exhibition : « L’Œil Ecoute » (« The Eye Listens »), in Festival d'Avignon in the Palais des Papes. October 17th - November 29th : Individual Exhibition, in Galerie Bideau, 49 rue du Chateau, Brest, Finistère, France. Marc Boussac publishes « Place aux Vivants » (« Make Way for the Living » ), in the same issue of the magazine Art Vivant. It will cause him quite a few enmities. 1970 February 4th – March 9th : « Itinéraires : Blanc » (« Itineraries : White » ) , Group Exhibition in the Museum of Art and Industry in Saint Etienne. May 21st - 21 June 21st : Individual exhibition in Galerie Coard, 12 rue Jacques-Callot (Paris) Paints under the alias : Julien Menu. Highly skilled in all sorts of techniques, Marc Boussac also paints reversed glass paintings. 1974 Group Exhibition « L’Homme et son empreinte » (« Man and his Print »), along with 26 other sculptors (among whom César) and 26 painters, in three different locations at different dates : - June 8th – September 1st in Château de Sainte-Suzanne in Mayenne (France) - September 20th - November 17th in the Paris Museum of Modern Art. - November 30th – January 12th, 1975 in Maison de la Culture in Bourges (France). 1976 Decembre 16th, 1976 – January 30th, 1977 : takes part in the group exhibition : « Boîtes » (« Boxes ») in the Paris Museum of Modern Art. 1982 June 5th : Marc Boussac dies in Paris. 1984 June 21st -September 21st : posthumous exhibition: Charles Estienne and Art in Paris, 1945-1966, in the Centre National des Arts Platiques /Fondation Nationale des Arts Graphiques et Plastiques, 11 rue Berryer Paris 8ème 2011 July 13 th – November 7th : « L’Aventure de l’Art Abstrait : Charles Estienne, critique d’art des années 50 », (« Abstract Art as Adventure : Charles Estienne, Art critic in the 1950s ») Museum of Fine Arts, Brest.
